WHO is the AntiChrist?
“Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the
Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.” (1 John 2:23)
Strictly speaking, it may include anyone or any group
except members of and of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Korihor in the Book of Mormon, Alma Chapter 30, is one
of the classic examples of an AntiChrist.
According to the Encyclopedia of Mormonism: “Antichrists
are those who deny the divinity of Jesus Christ or essential parts of his
gospel and actively oppose the followers of Christ or seek to destroy their
faith.”
Elder Bruce R. McConkie in “Mormon Doctrine” (page 39)
stated: “An antichrist is an opponent of Christ; he one who is in opposition to
the true gospel, the true church and the true plan of salvation.”
Elder McConkie ended his look at the anti-Christ by
referencing 1 John 4:3 and then stating this (page 40): “This great antichrist
which is to stand as the antagonist of Christ in the last days, and which is to
be overthrown when he comes to cleanse the earth and usher in millennial
righteousness, is the church of the devil.”
Thus, the Author of this blog suspects it is not necessarily
a certain person that is the Anti-Christ – it can be – but usually it is any
movement or group that goes against Christ’s teachings and the true church. The so-called “woke” movement often fits at least some of the parameters of an antiChrist movement; and surely
liberals or groups who protect criminals, organize riots, work against Christianity and
espouse hate may fit the bill too.
So, it be less a matter of "who" and more a matter of "what"...
Even Latter-day Saints who succumb to hate could also
be in antiChrist territory.
